We're Looking for Sustainable Fashion Production & Social Media Interns in Providence!

Position Title: Sustainable Fashion Production & Social Media Intern

Location: The Nest Production Studio at The Mill, 1155 Westminster St., Providence, RI 02909
Hours: Minimum 10-15 hours a week to begin, with potential for more in the future. In person within the hours of Monday-Friday 12-6pm.
Pay: Internship (school credit) or Volunteer 

Overview:

The Mill Intern plays a hands-on role in both the operations and storytelling behind The Nest's mission to keep clothing in use and out of landfills. Working closely with our Operations and Marketing teams, you'll gain firsthand experience in sustainable fashion, textile reuse, vintage clothing, retail production, and social media marketing.

This internship is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, creative, on social media and excited to learn how a growing mission-driven business operates behind the scenes. From processing and preparing thousands of pounds of secondhand clothing for sale to creating content that educates and inspires our community, you'll help support every stage of a garment's journey. As a representative of The Nest, you'll contribute directly to our work combating overconsumption and textile waste while developing valuable skills in operations, merchandising, content creation, and sustainable fashion.

This internship is great for a student needing an internship for school credit. Or a student looking for work experience to add to their resume. Or a professional looking for experience for a career change or resume building. 

Responsibilities (Production):

• Sorting, organizing, Quality Checking (QC), and hanging clothing by type, style, fabric content, season, etc. 

• Following our QC and laundry processes to best care for our product in preparation for sale at our retail store(s).

• Assisting in the transportation of clothing. This may entail packing clothing into bags or bins, loading and unloading into cars, or pushing the clothing between locations via a rolling bin or bag.

• Other organizational/maintenance tasks in our production space as delegated by the Production Manager or Manager on Duty.

• The role can evolve to include clothing care, cleaning, and laundry after demonstrating aptitude for the above responsibilities.  

Responsibilities (Communication / Social Media):

• Taking pictures and videos for our social media

• Editing video content for social media

• Prepping online product drops (steaming clothing, sizing and writing captions)

• Pitching & creating social media ideas based on current trends & relatability

• Organizing content on Google Drive

Qualifications:

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with others and follow processes.

• Ability to work collaboratively with peers and leadership, demonstrating a positive and helpful attitude.

• Knowledgeable about our inventory and eager to learn and adapt to new challenges

• The ability to take initiative and make decisions that contribute to the company's success.

• Must be able to lift 50lbs and be standing/moving for the majority of the shift. 

• Knowledgeable about current social media trends & practices

• Some experience taking photo/video content with phone or camera

• Visual eye for style & aesthetics is a plus 

Two-Week Trial

• The first two weeks of the internship will be considered a trial period to ensure a good fit between The Nest and the Intern.
