We're Hiring! Part-time Sales Associate

Position Title: Retail Sales Associate

Location: The Nest, 272 Carpenter Street, Providence, RI 02909

Hours: Part-time weekend shifts with possible week day shifts as needed. On average an Associate will work two 4.5 hour shifts per weekend. Shifts will be 10:45 am-3:15 pm and/or 3:00-7:15 pm. On average the position offers about 10 hours of work per week.  

Pay: $15/hour 

 

Overview:

As a Retail & Sales Associate at The Nest, you'll play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service, driving sales, and maintaining the ambiance of our secondhand and vintage store. You'll serve as a brand ambassador, engaging with customers, offering styling advice, and sharing knowledge about our products and services including our tailoring services, workshops, and events. With a focus on sustainability, you'll contribute to our mission of fighting the toxic cycle of overconsumption and textile waste.


Responsibilities:

  • Open, run, and close the brick-and-mortar store, including customer relations, sales, merchandising, and maintaining the sales floor to company standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to customers: including answering questions, starting fitting rooms, offering styling advice.

  • Merchandise and restock the sales floor as items sell, communicating restocking needs to the team.

  • Coordinate, maintain, and clean the retail sales floor, staff areas, and bathrooms: includes processing go-backs, tidying and merchandising the sales floor, taking out trash, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning mirrors.

  • Preparing new inventory for sale. This includes adhering to quality control standards, steaming, and pricing products for sale.

  • Complete side work during shifts: including importing clothing, changing mannequins, organizing the sales floor, and other miscellaneous tasks designated by the store manager.

  • Collaborate closely with the store manager and vendors to ensure sales growth and customer satisfaction.

  • Manage checking out tailoring orders and clearly communicating any problems between clients and tailors.

  • Be knowledgeable of our entire business model, mission, ethos, and upcoming events.  

  • Answer any questions about our services and workshops. Help people sign up for services in-store or give them the tools to sign up on their own. 

  • Contribute to our social media presence by participating in video content creation for platforms like TikTok, and Instagram Reels and Stories.


Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of retail experience, with a focus on sales and customer service.
  • Passion for fashion, style, and sustainability, with a strong understanding of trends reflective of The Nest's brand.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate store operations, processes, and initiatives.

  • Ability to work autonomously with attention to detail and pride.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers and leadership, demonstrating a positive and helpful attitude.

  • Knowledgeable about our inventory and eager to learn and adapt to new challenges.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, with the ability to take initiative and make decisions that contribute to the store's success.

  • Bonus if you have experience with Shopify, Asana, and the Google Suite.
